Short CV
From 1977 to 1981 I studied mathematics at Humboldt University in Berlin.
I received the diploma in mathematics from Humboldt University in 1981, and
the Dr. rer. nat. (in mathematics) in 1983 (again from Humboldt University). From
1983 until 1991 I was employed as research assistant at Humboldt University.
During this time, I spent one year at the Latvian University at Riga as a
postdoc. In May 1991 I became a member of the Institute for Theoretical Computer
Sciene at Technical University Darmstadt. Here I habilitated in computer
science in November 1993. In April 1994 I became associate professor at
the Research Institute of Fundamental Information Science at Kyushu University.
From October 1, 1997 to March 31, 2000 I was professor at the
Department of
Informatics at
Kyushu University.
From 2000 to 2004 I was professor for theoretical computer science
at the
Insitute for Theoretical Computer Science of the
University at Lübeck.
Since 2004, I am professor at Hokkaido University and
since 2020 I am professor emeritus.
